Second Foundational Course Session

The second TACK foundational course session will take place at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal and the Built Environment, on 12th-16th October 2021. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the meeting had been postponed several times in the hope of bringing the whole network together. The training axis was kicked off in an online event on February 9th, 2021.

This module focuses on how the tacit dimension of design practice generates a particular kind of knowledge that cannot be obtained through other methods of knowledge production. Certain aspects of the built environment, such as those relating to artistic and perceptual dimensions, but also those relating to everyday and informal use, seem to be addressed more adequately by tacit methods of transmitting knowledge. Through concrete case studies –architectural projects or architectural practices— the ESRs will learn about the heuristic capacities, as well as limitations, of tacit knowledge.
