In June 2022, the “Symposium Under the Landscape” was held on the islands of Santorini and Therasia (Cyclades, Greece), proposing a critical rethinking of the increasingly topical notion of landscape. Researchers from across disciplines discussed their work with renowned scholars such as professors Karsten Harries, Teresa Gali-Izard, Jane Mah Hutton, Kenneth Olwig and Tim Ingold. About a year later, this video aims to capture the experience of this meeting organized by the collective “Boulouki,” and to which five members of the TACK network contributed: Ionas Sklavounos as head of the organizing committee, Caendia Wijnbelt and Eric Crevels as presenting researchers, Lara Schrijver as commentator on the symposium sessions, and Monika Platzer as an invited speaker. As the accounts caught on camera show, this was very much a meeting about the tacit knowledge that may be found beneath what is usually referred to as landscape.
